Have you ever wanted to do a major expedition race but weren’t sure you were up for it? Here’s your chance to find out, and to “get your feet wet” (literally and figuratively!) in one of the coolest events on the planet. We are inviting a very limited number of lucky travelers to come and be a part of the 2015 Expedition Alaska Adventure race in a first-of-its-kind way – the ultimate in Adventure Tourism! Get ready for the adventure vacation of a lifetime! Come and see Alaska from the wild side…

You will have an opportunity to truly be “up close and personal” as you get the opportunity to do selected segments of the race on the same track and at the same time as some of the finest teams in the world! You will experience a true highlight reel of the best that “the Last Frontier” can offer, including amazing ocean kayaking, world class mountain biking, trekking through some of the most magnificent terrain on earth, all while getting to return to our fully staffed Transition Areas where your own Adventure Concierge will prepare meals for you, transport your gear, upload your photos, provide “beverages” of choice and more!

You will get to be a part of the pre-race festivities as well as the post-race banquet, and be “with” the racers throughout – this isn’t some foofy spa trip – it is an adventure you will remember for a lifetime, so you will be doing some “roughing it” during the week… you will sleep in tents like the rest of the crew, not shower, get tired and dirty, and in the end, have one of the best weeks of your life!

 

When you are out on the course, you will experience the same raw wilderness and challenges that the racers will undergo, including needing to navigate, fend for yourself on the trail and overcome obstacles both external and internal!

Your entry includes:

  • 4 nights accommodation prior to the race as well as a night in Seward on the 4th of July for the Celebration party.
  • Pre-race and post-race banquets as well as meals at the TAs during the week
  • Transportation to and from Anchorage International as well as where needed during the race to get you to the various TAs
  • Kayak rental (Drysuits, PFDs, Paddles etc are available for additional fees)
  • Special race jerseys, swag and commemorative medals
  • GPS tracking device and dedicated page so your friends and family can follow your progress.
  • A full set of maps
  • A special orientation and skills class prior to the race

(You will be responsible for your own race gear (see the modified gear list) and personal camping equipment, though tents and camping gear can be provided at an additional charge. We can also help provide bikes for you for an additional charge as well… Think of it as “Race Lite…” )

Schedule:

June 23 or 24: Arrange your flights to ANC. We will have vans for you to do any needed shopping in Anchorage on the 23rd and 24th. (Lodging on the 23rd can be arranged in ANC for an additional charge if needed).
Bus to McKinley Lodge on the evening of June 24.
June 25 – 27 : Pre-race training, registration, gear check, pre-race banquet etc.
June 28: Your Adventure Begins!
July 4: Arrive in Seward
July 5: Race finish, awards banquet and return to ANC. Please arrange your flights out after 9:00 pm on the 5th.

Mentor Option - Learn from the best, the first time around

You can also choose to have a “coach” during the event – we will outfit your team with one of the world’s great racers to go with you and teach you some of the skills needed to succeed and survive in the world’s toughest races – they won’t be “guiding” you, but rather will be there to mentor, aid and accompany you on your journey and explorations!
